“Hi Sunshine,” a facebook message from the past popped up. “Sunshine” was how I was known back when I appeared oblivious to gloom and doom, though as I age I readily admit gloom and doom are still NOT my style. In 1975, his mother, five years older, stepped in and became my dearest friend. Ruth visited us daily at the hospital and made sure I ate with her in the cafeteria; just there, putting sunshine everywhere. During this time in our nation’s tension; Ruth’s son calling me “Sunshine” brings a smile, and one I must mention. Ruth and Don Lamson will forever have a place in my heart. Ruth 1:16-17, King James Version (KJV) 16 And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: 17 Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.
