Hi bees! I am hoping to make a new, more period, lower middley class get-up this year, but I have one serious problem. Im allergic to wool. All wool, and wool blends. Doesnt just itch if unlined, it actually gives me hives. Absolutely not an option, under any circumstance. Up til now, I have used cotton for my typical ren faire costume (2 skirts, 1 bodice, 1 chemise), with the exception of some linen that turned out to be slub linen and wore through in one season. I guess my question is what should I make my new costume from? Is all linen super wrinkley? Is cotton the worst thing ever? Would raw silk be a good alternative?
