Hi everyone, I finally got through e-mailing and messaging - TopicsExpress

Hi everyone, I finally got through e-mailing and messaging everyone back. If I havent gotten back to you, please let me know. We are being sworn in this Monday, Dec 1st 5pm at City Hall. The inauguration meeting is open to the public, although it may be a bit full so if you do come and seating is limited - please give up your seat for those who may need it most. I think Council Chambers only really fits around 40 people. Ive invited hereditary chiefs from regional First Nations to say a few words at the inauguration to begin a new relationship with our neighbours, and to acknowledge that the City of Prince Rupert is situation on traditional Tsimshian territory. Prince Rupert is entering into a new time and I want to signal to our community that we are moving forward with an air of mutual cooperation and respect. I want to thank my opponents Jack, Tony and Sheila for their hard work and service to our community over the years. All three have been Rupert champions and have been diligent in helping us get to where we are now. I know all three will continue to be at service to Rupert and I look forward to working with them in a new capacity as Mayor of Prince Rupert. I want to thank Anna Ashley, Gina Garon and Judy Carlick-Pearson for their service on council. They helped take us to a new place in difficult economic times and I commend them for their efforts in that capacity. I want to congratulate all those who put their names forward in the run for elected office. It is no easy task to put yourself out in front of your community. A job well done to the new councilors and to the newly elected trustees. I believe we are well represented in this community. Lastly I want to thank all the volunteers and donors to our campaign. We raised just over $21,000 by mainly crowd sourcing individuals. My campaign was primarily funded by individuals alone - completely people powered. I was not endorsed by any corporations or any political interest groups. That record will be publicly released within 100 days of the campaign. If you feel so inclined we have a small amount left to raise. Please give me a message if you would like to make a final contribution. Im very proud of my campaign manager, James McNish, who was with me on this journey since January when we began. Without James none of this could have been done and he is truly a strong leader with a great view on the world. Im very lucky and proud to call him my friend and colleague. Thank you so much James for all your hard work and dedication. End of year council schedule as follows: Dec 1st + 2nd - Council Orientation Dec 1st - 5pm - Council Inauguration Meeting (City Hall) Dec 3rd - 7pm - Public Hearing on Lot 444 (Highliner Hotel) Dec 8th - 5pm - Special Meeting of Council (City Hall) Dec 10th - 12th - Local Government Workshop (Terrace, BC) All the best, Lee PS - Im trying to get the name of the Facebook page changed, but not sure if that will happen or not.
