Hi everyone, Some of you may have heard that we lost our barn - TopicsExpress

Hi everyone, Some of you may have heard that we lost our barn Sunday night to a fire. Nobody was hurt and farm life today continues mostly as normal. The cows got milked, beef got fed, piglets chased each other in circles, and chickens pecked in their fields, and some perched in the remains of what was once their home. It could have been far worse and all that comes to mind now is how grateful we are for the opportunity to experience the love and support of the community web that makes up Deck Family Farm and to see so clearly that we exist wholly in the hands of nature. Some have asked if there is anything they can do to defray our immediate costs or to help with clean up and rebuilding efforts. We have decided to register with the fundraising website YouCaring where a donation can be made to help pay for our deductible and some of our uninsured, but necessary items lost in the fire such as the manure spreader, loader, spin spreader, stanchions and panels. To make that possible, here is a link directly to Deck Family Farms Barn Fire Recovery Effort: youcaring/help-a-neighbor/barn-fire-recovery-effort/261546 Also, some better news. We have decided to go ahead with the 10-Year Anniversary Farm Party scheduled for this Friday Nov 14th. We invite you all to come out for a pig roast accompanied by great beer, music, dancing, and more. Meat will be provided by Deck Family Farm, but feel free to bring a side dish of your choice potluck-style. The proceeds from beer sales will go towards the barn fire recovery effort. We look forward to seeing you there! We will be posting more info on our website and blog. deckfamilyfarm.blogspot/ Thank you for your prayers and good will. It is a time to give thanks, Christine, John Deck & The Deck Family Farm “Farmily”
