Hi everyone. Thanks for visiting this Facebook page. The intention of this page is to promote charitable donations to support the residents of Haapai, Tonga after the devastation that Cyclone Ian caused. I have been privileged to have visited Haapai three times over the past three years. To me, its a dream home away from home. I spent four months there in 2012 home schooling three kids from Matafonua, near Faleloa in Haapai. Given this strong connection with Darren, Nina and the kids, and my love of the Tongan people I met, Id like to do something to help out. I would like to encourage anyone to donate to any of the Cyclone Ian appeals. I know that Red Cross and Oxfam are receiving money. However, sitting here safe in New Zealand, I feel the need to do something myself. So Ive created my own charitable account. This money will all go directly to Faleloa, the village on Foa Island near Matafonua Lodge and Sandy Beach resort. The aim is to directly help those locals whose homes have been flattened by this cyclone.
