Hi everyone, We have received news that a typhoon is expected to hit the Philippines this Saturday. The Philippine Weather Bureau’s latest update shows that Typhoon Hagupit will take the same path as Haiyan and is unfortunately forecasted to reach super typhoon status. As many of you will know, our volunteers have been tirelessly working to rebuild after Typhoon Haiyan hit this region just over one year ago. We currently have 23 volunteers in the Philippines. On advice from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council we have enacted our Crisis Management plan and have moved all volunteers to the Dohera Hotel AC Cortez, Mandaue City. This hotel is typhoon-proof and we’ve been guaranteed it’s safe and secure. Our volunteers are in contact with their families but should you have any concerns please do contact me directly. Our thoughts are with the people of the Philippines at this time, as well as our staff and volunteers as they wait out this storm. We will update the group as we receive information from our staff on the ground.
