Hi, my dearest followers! I dont usually post stuff that is not my work, but I felt I should share these wise words from one of my biggest idols in Concept Art, Anthony Jones. Art and Creativity need to get more respect. We live in an ignorant society where an Artist is seen as just someone who does not want to work. Art is seen as a hobby and not a real profession, even though, as the GREAT Anthony Jones points out, were surrounded by proof of the value of Art and the creative professions. Even Design which, alongside Architecture, is one of the few professions that is beginning to be seen as a somewhat real profession, is still seen as something with few professional and commercial value by the majority of people in other professional contexts... When I decided to become a Designer, I had family members asking me what I wanted to do as a profession at the same time as this hobby of Design. Now, as I return to my main life goal, which is to become a professional Artist, I can imagine how I look to these people even more as a guy focused on a hobby instead of a real profession. We lack education and information, as suggested in the video, not just to allow anyone who wants to pursue artistic careers to do so, but also to teach everyone else to respect and take Art and Creative professionals seriously. It doesnt cease being a profession just because we like it and feel fulfilled by it, people! We shouldnt be punished because other people chose to pursue careers for what society told them was right instead of for what they actually wanted to do in life... You dont cease to have to pay us to do it just because we have fun doing it. This is a particularly difficult and underpaid profession to pursue, specially in certain places and realities (like my own country), but thats mainly due to this misinformation spread since school times. And, make no mistake, if we have it as our life goal and feel it with the passion of someone who doesnt see sense in life without it, well pursue that goal to our graves! Well be Artists and Creatives or well die trying...
