Hi page members... Just wanted take a moment to share some helpful information to those of you who may be interested.. I know its hard to imagine that there are those who simply see an animal as a way to make fast cash or dont care if the pets they no longer want or need end up in good homes. Nothing I nor anyone else would be able to say anything that will change their mind..for its a personality issue IMO. So this is for those interested in doing the best they can for the animals they must place... A few simple steps can make a huge impact... When rehoming a pet if you do nothing else do a vet reference on who you give/sell your animal to...to help verify they are taking proper care for their own pets or previous pets... Also take the pet to their new home so you see how they will live... If they cant provide a reference... dont sentence this animal to be someones yard ornament or to a life of possible neglect or worse... I see it over and over..your pet needs and depends on YOU to choose wisely for them... If you cant secure the type of home it deserves.. please contact a reputable rescue organization... If no luck still take to the shelter... I can promise you one thing.. There are a lot more things that can and do happen that are far worse then humane euthanasia... But just because you send to shelter does not mean it will happen... Good people adopt from shelters all the time.... .and for those repeatedly getting rid of unwanted puppies.. good grief get your animal spayed... There are too many programs offering low cost vouchers... so that is not an excuse for such behavior. There are programs that help animals in need...yes they are usually overflowing.. but if your patient it can be done.. check them out before working with them.. Google them.. contact local shelters to inquire... People do your due diligence! Its just a few phone calls..is your animal.. but the true burden is with that animal..for its him /her paying the ultimate price for your inaction . With its life. Please know that is not a dramatization for effect ... This is fact. Groups work to ensure they place them in homes were they are part of a family .. Not till he out grows his cute stage.. Or is no longer convenient.. Or to hard to get him housebroken or what ever reasons people come up with...while some are valid... 95% of them are not ...I wish you luck and remember this pet is depending on you to choose wisely... I see alot of posts from people on these pages that I have taken animals from because they could/would not care for them properly.. Usually animals are in bad shape with no vaccines ect... (they either asked us to take them or I was called out to their property regarding an animal welfare complaint) Saddens/frustrates me when I see them shopping for another free or cheap victim to use up and throw away when its sick or no longer profitable ...or how about when we talk with people about our North Shore program and these kids will be fully vetted and placed in wonderful homes as a family member...just to have them look down their nose at us snarkely saying thanks but no thanks... And a few weeks later pulling same dogs off the side of the road or from the shelter ready for the pink juice. .. More often then not sick.. Eat up with fleas... How does that make sense? ..Really? Let me know if you have any questions or would like assistance in choosing the right home... This is just free information for you to consider... What I think is the most tragic is I share this information to people like you in this same situation...and they totally ignore it...and spiteful (but hopefully unknowingly) give the animal to the very people I try to warn them about... and a few months later animal is at the shelter... or living a tragic existence..or abandoned on the side of the road..or dead... Do the right thing.. It only takes a few minutes to verify information... there is no ulterior motive... I dont want your pet... I just want you to be informed to make good decisions for your unwanted pet ..and make an effort on their behalf... Its less work and heartache to try to help with a msg like this then later when its to late.. I hope it helps you... More importantly.. I hope it helps the animals being posted day in and day out.... There are low Spay Neuter programs to get your pet fixed... Its all about priorities...when we truly want/need something we make it happen... Your pet needs you to be their advocate.. Just sayin...and for goodness sake stop taking in animals you are not planning to keep for life... Good luck.
