My name is Timothy Hawkes, and Im a Republican running to replace Roger Barrus in the Utah legislature. Im grateful for Rogers long and dedicated service and know we have big shoes to fill. Heres a brief summary of what I hope to offer: A commitment to the conservative principles and values embodied in our Party platform. A proven ability to work with others--to bring people together to solve tough problems. A thorough understanding of the U.S. and Utah Constitutions and, more importantly, ideas like checks and balances, federalism, and the separation of powers that underlie them. I am a student of history and the Founding. The experience required to hit the ground running. I understand the legislative process and how to both pass--and defeat--legislation. An open mind and a willingness to listen. I believe in two-way communication between citizens and their elective representatives and will do everything I can to promote that.
