Hieracium graniticola section Alpina, on the slopes of Ben Macudi at 975 meters ( 2007). A very rare endangered Alpine Hawkweed that is confined to the central Cairngorms of Scotland. Population around 30-40 plants usually on steep grassy scree slopes.Often confused with the frequent Hieracuim alpina. H. graniticola has bluish deeply lobed blunt tipped leaves. Heavily collected by Hieracium Victorian plant hunters, there are more specimens in Herbariums , approx 150 than there are in the wild.
