Hillbilly Post..Wednesday.. Pretty good day today.. Say a prayer for a friends grandfather who is in a bad way right now.. Seems like our state legislature decided not to fund the overhaul of Rupp Arena. I really dont blame them. Every UK game played there this year sold over 23,000 tickets. They have all kinds of other events there every year and with the rare exception of a big concert they hardly ever fill the place. 80 million dollars to rebuild something that is already perfectly adequate is stupid.. Im glad I dont live in Lexington. It seems like they are always trying to do something to revitalize the downtown area. Problem is very few people live in that area. The few successful businesses that they have in that area are constantly in danger of being forced out to make way for progress. The businesses forced out to make way for the Center Point project 6 years ago were thriving and contributed tax dollars to the coffers.. I aint no genius but the big vacate lot they created after taking those propertys from the former owners hasnt put one dime in the coffers yet.... Louisville has been building a new bridge to Indiana since 1993. They have spent enough money studying it repeatedly to have built it twice based on the estimated cost back in 93 and they still havent started building it.. I think that they should hire Walmart to build the bridge and Center Point. Heck once Walmart decided to build a super center in Harrodsburg it took them 9 months to buy the property, flatten the land, install the needed infrastructure, (roads, water and gas lines, sewer and storm drains) build it, stock it and open the doors for business... Politicians are gearing up for Election Day. Matt Beavins has already got on my last nerve with his adds saying all Mitch McConnell can do is run attack ads. Problem is I havent seen any of McConnell ads attack anybody but the presidents policies that almost everybody I know are opposed to. Beavins on the other hand is slinging mud in every one of his ads and to make matters worse he is purposely distorting the truth to make Mitch look bad. News flash, Mitch doesnt need your help Matt. Still havent heard how Beavins plans to make things better for us. As a matter of fact the only thing I know about him is he doesnt like McDonnell... Wisdom for the day. Never take anyone or anything for granted. Thats a recipe for being disappointed... Peace out
