History and Sports Fans...On this date 30 years ago, like a thief in the night, the Colts football franchise packed up and relocated from Baltimore to Indianapolis, leaving behind a stunned fan base and many great memories of the Colts glory days. This event also began the modern era of franchise relocations. In an effort to find greener grass in the great city of Indy, the Colts could only find two playoff wins before 1996, the year the Baltimore Ravens were born. Yes, the team that once featured the great quarterback Johnny Unitas would also find their own franchise QB in Peyton Manning. Since 1984, the Colts left Baltimore and have captured one Super Bowl title. The band continued to play on in the Charm City of Baltimore, and eventually, the new team in town - the Baltimore Ravens - in just 18 seasons have captured 2 Lombardi Trophies. At the end of the day, even with the initial heartbreak of losing an NFL team, the city of Baltimore is the one that came out on top.
