Hit Like if you remember this time in #Zimbabwe Ranel Gets Discovered Part 3: Economic Boot Camp! As I promised I said Id let you know exactly what kind of hardships stalled my dream... This is going to sound crazy but there was officially NO FOOD in any store in the country, not a crumb of bread. We always knew our supplies were dwindling but like a bad dream they just disappeared! Gone! And for a very long time. By that time my parents were divorcing. Add to the mix that our national water supply was officially dead, electricity was hardly in supply and cholera outbreaks were rampant. We were struggling like any other family in this national struggle. We were fighting to keep ourselves healthy and our minds sane. We were trying to get decent nutrition! Luckily I didnt go crazy lol I had a coping mechanism; song-writing. It was therapy. I spent solemn hours in my bedroom just writing songs, I could get lost. It really helped me through it, together with prayer. I had a job but it didnt pay me enough to even get to work. Truth is we were in no position to think about luxuries, we were in an economic boot camp multiplied by four! I now had to focus on the basic things in life that werent even readily available and helping take care of my mom and sister in an extreme way... Ever been through something really trying? How did you cope?
