Hmmm... $18 million available in scholarships for Native Hawaiians Workshops organized for scholarship, school application. HONOLULU —$18 million in financial aid is available for Native Hawaiians seeking a college degree. A series of workshops, organized by the University of Hawaii, brings together agencies to share important information with potential students. Information on how to strategize on applications, find out what you might be eligible for and help soon-to-be students get into their preferred school. Advisor Hylie Santos says many people who think they cant qualify, actual meet the requirements. Chaminade nursing student Kayla Stevenson says without this kind of help, paying for college would have been impossible. “I believe that these monies really help people like me because without it how are you going to pursue your dream? It makes your dream a reality,” said Stevenson. The workshops start next week at the following locations: Jan. 13 - McKinley High Schools Auditorium Jan. 14 - Waianae High School Neighbor island workshops are scheduled for later this month.
