Home from Phoenix Comicon, happy and exhausted. I had six panels and five signings in three days, bought lots of t-shirts, rode elevators with Stephen Amell, Danny Glover, and John Barrowman. It was nice to see some of my friends in the comics biz, including Phil Hester and Matthew Dow Smith, and to spend time with some of the great folks from Dark Horse and Boom Studios. The greatest thing about the Phoenix con, however, is the shared emphasis on prose writers. So nice to see friends like Charlaine Harris, Amber Benson, Maryelizabeth Hart, Weston Ochse, Yvonne Navarro, Jeff Mariotte, Joe Nassise, David Wellington (in person for the first time), Heather Brewer, and Lee Harris, and to meet a whole boatload of authors for the first time (or get to really talk to them for the first time), including Myke Cole, Jaye Wells, Laini Taylor, Chuck Wendig, Delilah S. Dawson, Seanan McGuire, Elizabeth Bear, Pierce Brown...and my brain is too fried to keep thinking, except to say I loved meeting fellow Haverhill horror lover, producer Mallory OMeara. The con was a blast. Lilys happy with her signed photo of Stephen Amell and Im wondering how long my jet lag will last. Thanks so much to the organizers, especially to Lee Whiteside. Those Phoenix folks treat their guests right.
