Horsemeat victim Birds Eye vows to buy more British beef Frozen food giant Birds Eye has pledged to only use beef sourced from UK or Irish farms as it bids to draw a line under the Horsemeat scandal. The company - which makes 100 million burgers a year - will also roll out new labelling to boast about its commitment this summer. From the end of June, all Birds Eye burgers will only be sourced from UK or Irish farmers. And the pledge will be extended to all other beef products - from ready meals, pies to roast dinners - by the end of the year. Buy British fortnight 2013 21st September - 6th October 2013.
