House Fire for Crew 3 A few minutes after shift change, at the start of a 37 hour shift, Engines 611, 611B, 624, Tower 611, and Chief 611 were alerted, along with Engine and Tower 606 from the Ashburn Volunteer Fire Rescue Department (AVFRD), Rescue Squad 439 (Fairfax – North Point), Battalion Chief 601, EMS Supervisor 601, Safety Officer 600, and Medic 625 from Sterling Volunteer Rescue Squad, for a house fire at an unknown address. Callers could only provide the intersection. Battalion 601 arrived, followed by Engine 611, to find a old home with fire showing from the rear. A RIT Level 1 was requested, bringing Truck 606 and Engine 623. E611 proceeded to the rear and began to knock down the fire there, and were joined by E611B to attack the interior fire on the first floor. Meanwhile Tower 611 and 606 entered the front with Engine 624, searched the structure for occupants, eventually working to the 2nd floor where they worked with Engines 623 to find and extinguish the fire there. Most of the fire was knocked down quickly and the remaining units worked to find and extinguish hot spots. The old construction made this a labor intensive task. Canteen 611, Air Unit 623, responded for support. The scene was turned over the the Fire Marshal’s Office for investigation. The Loudoun County Sheriffs Office provided additional support throughout the incident. Photos by: Jesus Flores
