House and Senate have enacted ID bill - Now onto the Governors desk August 11th, 2014 Dear Friends, Over the past few decades interior designers in Massachusetts have been fighting for legal recognition as design professionals in the built environment. MiDC, with the dedicated support of The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), has worked tirelessly to introduce legislation and move it along through the House and Senate. After years of battling opposition and meeting many honorable Massachusetts state legislators, the time has finally come where we are on the brink of receiving the Governor’s signature of approval on H. 4303 as it has been enacted by both the House and the Senate as of today! As you may know H. 4303 establishes a scope of work for interior designers, and authorizes interior designers to have the right to bid on state projects as “prime contractor” on non-load bearing projects in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. As President of MiDC, I request your support as we strive for victory in the State Capitol. Your generous donation will help us achieve our financial goal of $25,000 to aide our legislative efforts and ensure the legislation is implemented throughout Massachusetts. Your contribution will be appreciated not only by interior design professionals but by the thousands of determined interior design students who study each and every day to become qualified design professionals. Please go to midc.wildapricot.org/donate to donate online. Thank you for your support and encouragement as we continue to win the battle of legal recognition for interior designers in the great state of Massachusetts. Sincerely, Christina Christina Oliver, ASID
