Part-time Weekend Relief Houseparents relieve Full-Time Houseparents of their duties from Friday at 6 p.m. to Sunday at approximately 9:30 p.m., every other weekend. This position is live-in for the entire weekend. The Relief Couples are the primary caregivers for the students living in campus homes. This position is highly involved in the weekend activities of the students. Activities include, but are not limited to, preparing meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) for 8 to 13 students, assisting with household chores, and transporting students to and from activities. Relief houseparents are also involved in planned activities for the students, such as Sunday chapel services, off-campus trips to events, and campus activities. The Relief Houseparent couple earns $742 per weekend. The Relief HP Hiring Process can take as long as 3 months. Hiring Process for Relief Houseparents: 1) Online Application 2) Phone Interview 3) On-Campus Interview 4) Preliminary Background Check 5) Final Background Check 6) Medical Examination, which includes a 50 lb. lift test When Relief Houseparents start, there is a paid mandatory training program of 2 consecutive weekends. Once placement occurs, then Relief HP will work every other weekend. Next tentative start dates/training: January 2014 and March 2014 Requirements: Couple must be legally married at least 3 years at the time of application. Must be at least 27 years of age. Must be available to work 2 sets of consecutive weekends for training and then work every other weekend subsequently. No more than 2 dependent children. No pets. High school diploma/GED minimum. Valid drivers licenses in good standing as required to drive a 9-passenger van. Demonstrated high degree of organizational skills. Experience and skills in working with children and youth. Candidates should demonstrate a high degree of integrity. All MHS staff are considered to be role models for MHS students.
