How I Lebroned, oops cheated on the City of Cleveland… I was - TopicsExpress

How I Lebroned, oops cheated on the City of Cleveland… I was born and raised a Cleveland sports fan proof being I never missed an Indians opening day from the age of 4 until I graduated high school and went to college. I worked at the Stadium during Indians and Browns games selling either snow-cones, popcorn, hot chocolate or cotton candy. When I was able to, I traded my stadium vendor clothing for season tickets for the Browns and Cavaliers and partial season tickets for the Indians games. First, I was transferred to Detroit when the Pistons won their first championship, the Red Wings and even the Tigers won a few championships while I was there. Being the Indians, Browns and Cavalier fan that I was, I never ever attended a game unless the opposing team was one from Cleveland. I watched on TV as the Pistons, Red Wings and Tigers had their victory parades in downtown Detroit but I refused to attend because I was saving the victory celebration for one in downtown Cleveland. Next, I was transferred to Milwaukee when the Brewers won a few championships and even the Packers won one championships while I was there. Being the Indians, Browns and Cavalier fan that I was I never ever attended a game unless the opposing team was one from Cleveland. I watched on TV as the Brewers and Packers had their victory parades in downtown Milwaukee and Green Bay but I refused to attend because I was saving the victory celebration for one in downtown Cleveland. Then, I was transferred to Miami when the Marlins won a few championships, the Panthers won a few championships and the U of M won a few championships also and even the Heat won one championship while I was there. I watched on TV as the Marlins, Panthers, U of M and Heat had their victory parades in downtown Miami but I refused to attend because I was saving the victory celebration for one in downtown Cleveland. And last but not least, I relocated to Central Louisiana where the territorial football team is the New Orleans Saints. A few years ago the Saints won the Super Bowl. Being slightly less than 200 miles from New Orleans and on the other side of 50 and at the urging of another relocated, long suffering fellow Clevelander living in the area I was convince that it was now or never for me to witness a real life victory celebration in a downtown. I relented and agreed to attend but only under the promise that I did not have to wear a Saints jersey or t shirt. I did wear Saints colors though. All the way on ride to New Orleans the Saints radio commentators kept repeating the same line that no team or city deserves this victory celebration more than the Saints and the city of New Orleans do. I must admit I was overwhelmed with how nice the parade was and left the parade knowing that the City of New Orleans really know’s how to throw a party. I’ve been there for Marti Gras, New Years, Jazz, Festival and the Essence Festival and none of them came close to the party the City of New Orleans threw for the Saints that winter afternoon. However, I am convinced that when either the Browns, Cavaliers or Indians win a championship the City of Cleveland will throw a victory party in downtown Cleveland it will be a party that the world has never ever seen.
