How I met #JerseyCity, My wife and I moved here 6 years ago, I was bringing my Turntables in our new house when a young man walked by and asked me if I was a DJ, Marc Tucci. I told him yes and i was more of a Minimal Techno DJ. This would lead to a strong minded and beautiful woman named Uta Brauser. 3 months later I would meet her thru him. She received a license to sell Kid Robot product in her small art gallery Fish with Braids, and needed a techno DJ, he recommended me. This would be our first meeting and the beginning of a long business and friendship.Later she threw a fundraiser at Lenape Lounge or as some of you know it The Dopeness. At this fundraiser I would be introduced to Benedicto Figueroa who on that night was made some kind of grand something of words, who read a poem that quoted a line from Poison that allowed to play the remix that i had been saving for almost a year to play out. on this same night I meet Chelo Mercado and his wife Sirena Mari Mercado of Grassroots Community Space, who I would later work with on a open Turntable event and meet so more DJs of the area. I meet a DJ legend in the area Lex El Otro Leonard. I meet on that same night John Fathom of 660 Studios (who told me to say his name like I was in a Death Metal band)Also William B McCamie, who would get me gigs at place like Lucky 7 and Port-o Lounge where I have a residence now on Thursday nights. I meet local artist at her shows like Robert Piersanti, Norman Kirby, MoonFire Tower, Ken Bastard. Threw those art shows I meet Emily Palmer and Andrea Artemis Morin who would later get me a 2 1/2 year run as a resident DJ at LITM. I was the first DJ at the market I loved spinning there and i meet so many great people threw the market like Anthony Vito Susco of the (The) Rock-it Docket , Luca Cusolito, Downtown Sid, Eric MacNeil, Cloy of the Greenvillan. I am sure I am leaving so many people out, but what I getting at is Uta introduced me to Jersey Culture and its people. I for one am truly sad to see her leave, I think we are the ones really missing out on what she has to offer. I realize she has bumped heads with some of you. But it is a shame to see her leave us behind.
