How Racism Created Americas Chinatowns This article ran over at the Huffington Post. I thought that it was an nice short overview of the development of the modern Chinatown. I was already familiar with most of this story, but it was still interesting to see how public perception of the Chinese community in different eras transitioned from one perspective to the next. A lot of these same forces may help to explain why studying the Chinese martial arts became socially acceptable in the 1960s in a way that it could not have been in the 1920s or 1890s.
