How far is too far? I allow my son, aged eight, to walk from our tent to the portajohn at Pennsic unsupervised this year. Thats a fifty foot walk to the edge of camp and a hundred foot walk to the actual portajohn itself, which puts him out of sight for half of his walk to and from there. I dont consider this unreasonable, myself, because hes not off wandering Pennsic alone and unsupervised, but I saw a comment on the Pennsic group from a person whos 11 year old got questioned while standing outside a portajohn waiting for her. How grey is the line of whats unsupervised? While I wouldnt want my child to leave camp alone, if hes using the facilities in the same block as my camp and Im in camp, is that unreasonable?
