How much Total Occlusal Convergence do you really prep? by Lane M. Ochi DDS, FACD, FICD. Dentaltown Message Board Prosthodontics Fixed Prosthodontics dentaltown/MessageBoard/thread.aspx?s=2&f=151&t=239776&v=1. Im just curious how a poll of DT members compare to the numbers that are reported for average taper or TOC of a full coverage indirect restoration. Please just take your next case you are delivering or pick something that you feel is representative of your typical prep and print out this gauge and determine the TOC of your first plane reduction for the buccal and lingual. Lab techs are welcome to answer as well. Definition of “Full Coverage”. A complete crown.............. From the glossary of Prosthodontic terms. Complete crown \ko˘ m-pl et kroun\: a restoration that covers all the coronal tooth surfaces (mesial, distal, facial, lingual, and occlusal). BTW, the definition doesnt mention anything about being subgingival......... The poll is to address the values that are reported in the literature......... I hate to burst your bubble but conventional C&B is still practiced in many parts of the world and there really is a lack of full understanding of the application of all the rules and what they really mean in clinical dentistry. Im currently trying to address some of the concerns in basic fixed prosthodontics and one on them is our actual perception of what we are doing intraorally. I remember to this day a panel discussion on luting agents and someone answered; SW, SW, SW....... when asked what that meant, the answer was some will, some wont, so what. Some dentists will provide indirect restorations that arent bonded, what do we say to those doctors and their patients? #TotalOcclusalConvergence #TOC #FullCoverageIndirectRestoration #IndirectRestoration #DirectRestoration #DentalLabTechs #FixedProsthodontics #DentaltownMessageBoard #Prosthodontics #CosmeticDentistry #Dentist #Dentistry #DentalStudents #Prosthodontist #LaneMOchi
