How voting can change current political system in India? This is - TopicsExpress

How voting can change current political system in India? This is a question to most of my friends who believe the nation has come to doomsday because of corrupt politicians. And no one can change the current political situations. Now only way out is the way out of this country. According to the statistics of last 5 parliamentary elections, in Mumbai a contestant needs only 15% of votes from eligible registered voters to win elections from that parliamentary constituency. And that is the major reason why every candidate will want to work only for 15% of their own vote bank and not for the entire population. In India roughly 20% population come under some sort of minority, but still everyone wants to work for them, instead of remaining 80%. (Hmm! No rocket science in that.) But why is this percentage of required votes to win elections so less? Ideally it should be 51% This is because not everyone thinks voting is important. In Mumbai: Population eligible to vote: 10 Million Population registered to vote: 5.5 million And only 40% of registered population casts vote. Less number of voting turnout percentage results in less number of percentage required to win elections. And less number of people to be pleased before elections. This is how the vote bank politics work. And everybody fights and work for their own vote bank. No wonder common man in India is so neglected. Only when we all decide to vote and percentage of votes required to win elections go from 15% to at least 40%, this vote bank politics will not work any more. Politicians can not win elections only by buying votes or working for their own vote bank. Well! This is not the only way to change current political situation in India, but this is surely a way to change. So please register yourself for Loksabha elections of 2014 and make yourself heard. JAI HIND!
