Howitzer Armament Systems Repair (Afghanistan) Salary 106K Yearly 1. Performs repairs and adjustments as required. 2. Disassembles, examines parts, adjusts components and assemblies as required. 3. Repairs and or modifies mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems. Assembles systems, such as elevating, traversing, recoil, rammer and firing systems, breeches, gun tube and cannon tubes, pumps, shields and their related components. 4. Determines serviceability of parts. Diagnoses and determines remedies for failures commonly encountered in the repair of howitzer systems. Uses a variety of diagnostic techniques and TMDE while using specific technical manuals. 5. May instruct other employees in the proper repair maintenance procedures and capabilities of turret artillery maintenance and related TMDE. 6. Safely uses common-hand tools and shop equipment effectively without assistance. 7. Exercises initiative to maintain productive progress and accepts responsibility for the results. 8. Required to conduct and receive cross training as directed. 9. Performs other duties as assigned. Education: a) High school diploma or equivalent required. b) Army or equivalent MOS training/certificate required Experience: a) 1-3 years experience in Howitzer Armament Systems at DS/GS level on M119 105MM, M198 155MM and M777 155MM Howitzer required. b) US Army MOS 45k or 91k or USMC MOS 2131 preferred. Specialized knowledge and skills: a) Must have good knowledge of tools and repair equipment. b) Must be able to obtain a security clearance prior to start date c) Must complete PQS training Program within 30 days of arrival. Work Environment and Physical Demands: a) Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively during a 77 hour work week. b) Must be able to lift 25 Lbs. continuously, 50 Lbs intermittently. c) Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures. d) Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
