Human history is filled with violence, torture, enslavement, occupations, and endless destruction, endless killings, both random and targeted. Milgram and other researchers proved that its a deeply seated human problem that occurs in practically all cultures, often disguised as liberating other people from their oppression or ignorance, when in reality its often the need to dominate and conquer others or the desire for revenge. To my knowledge, nobody has found a way to stop this endless string of violence, perhaps with a few exceptions here and there where individuals, groups, and countries create conditions that try to bring together people of different backgrounds in meaningful ways. My heart goes out to the victims, their families and friends, aware that sooner or later, more atrocities will be committed, while we look on as helpless as before.
