Hunter had one of his many LP/chemo appointments today. Overall - TopicsExpress

Hunter had one of his many LP/chemo appointments today. Overall the LP was just fine. It did show some cells this time, Dr. B said he didnt think they were malignant Leukemia cells. They looked like mature T-cells which clearly shows he did have an infection in the past, which was probably the cause of his recent seizure. I asked him if we could take out his button tube, we were only using it for one of his meds. I finally got him to take the med by mouth with some orange juice, so we got to take out the tube. Yea!!! We also talked a little about his vision issue. Dr. B said we could stop the intrathecal chemo (which is when they inject the chemo directly in when doing the LP), but then his risk of leukemia returning is greater. Since the leukoenchephalopathy would reverse itself once treatment is over, and for Hunter that would be around mid 2016, we can just wait until then. There might be a possibility of some scaring. Since leukoenchepalopathy is rare, its hard to say what might happen. I vote for continuing treatment, although messed up vision would suck having to deal with leukemia twice would suck more. Heres hoping neither happens.
