Hunting, when performed professionally, actually helps animals from suffering and starving and from killing each other due to over population. We cannot change the fact that the expansion of civilization destroys the natural habitat of animals. Professional hunters can however relieve animals from the collateral suffering. Hunting with bows in most of a Europe is illegal because it is not lethal enough and can cause more suffering. I would never hunt without a sidearm or a big knife to (1) prevent unnecessary suffering if animals and (2) protect myself from counter-attacks!
