Huntingtons disease is a progressive degenerative neurological disease of later life (although an early form called the Westphal variant is recognised). It is inherited dominantly, and demonstrates anticipation (through tri-nucleotide repeat sequences). This means that it has a more severe phenotype with earlier onset in later generations. Huntingtons primarily consists of abnormal choreaform movements and ataxia. These progressively worsen until the patient is unable to move. Cognitive involvement occurs, and also tends to be progressive
