If true, this is tragic even if it is not news that prosecutors can be corrupt. Joe Hynes entered the DAs office as Mr. Clean. He created some very good programs. The criminal prosecutions he oversaw were, some of them, flawed and unjust. If he used public money and staff resources to try to prolong his sagging political career, it demonstrates the need for public review of prosecutors. Stephanie Clifford & William K. Rashbaums story seems mostly dependent on a leaked report. Much more digging would be useful.
