Hypothesis: True, genuine, artificial intelligence will come from evolution in code just as intelligence in humans came from evolution of life. Logic: Intelligent life is created basically through trial and error. Life starts as a single cell organism, which then reproduces itself over and over again, most reproductions are exactly the same so that an abundance of that organism will start to exist. The ones that are not exactly the same have genetic defects. Through these genetic defects we have evolution, by the defects giving new abilities to the cells with the defects, allowing them to become better or worse than the previous version/versions. After a while the older, weaker of the species that does not have the good genetic defects will die off allowing for the newer, better species to dominate. This trial and error method of genetics is what has allowed us to become intelligent, very complex beings, that were once very simple, single celled organisms. Although it has taken us millions, if not billions of years because the iterations of our species take so long to be born and die. I argue, that as humans are the only highly cognitive, intelligent species that we know of, then we must model all intelligent life after the only intelligent life we know, ourselves. I believe true artificial intelligence can be achieved much like our intelligence was achieved. 1) create a computer worm, a program that merely replicates itself over and over again. 2) introduce a virus into the computer worm that sometimes randomly manipulates parts of the worms code during replication allowing for genetic deformations. 3) implement a lifecycle into the worm that allows it to destroy itself after so long allowing for older versions of the worm to die off so newer versions can take its place in turn creating controlled evolution. 4) give the now evolving, growing, and changing worm plenty of space and processing power to allow this simulation to run 100s of trillions of times. This method would hopefully result in what our own evolution resulted in, a single celled, simple organism evolving and changing into a complex, multicelled organism that works in tandem with each other allowing for humans to be concious and intelligent, which will hopefully lead to an also conscious, intelligent virtual being.
