I - First things first.. Vikram !!! How much ever I explain , he is Athukkum Maela !! Next , PCS and ARR - terrific visuals and bgm. But all these tremendous efforts are let down by Shankar , a director who is long lost by falling into the prey of grandeur commercial cinema. Gone are the days where his grand trademark was there in the scenes to elevate the movies content (Mudhalvan Riot scene,Pre-Independence scenes in Indian to cite a few) and not just in the songs and for promotions. And when we say this is not like his previous movies , that refers only to the tight and gripping screenplay with a superb content and not in reference to the genre. No question on his creativity and making skills but all we wanted is that the script supplemented by all these efforts and not the vice versa. I feel that most of the positive reviews seen/heard around are just for one man , his unimaginable efforts that has gone into this movie. So watch it (only) for the one and only Chiyaan !!
