Industrial Relations Commission Update Matter No. IRC 671 of 2013 Dear member, The HSU has recently been advised by members that a number of station officer positions have been advertised in which successful completion of the AMQ course was an essential requirement prior to applying for the position. Clearly not all officers have had access to the AMQ course and numerous others have been denied access to the course. Therefore this new requirement severely restricts the number of officers who can apply for the station officer role. As a result, the HSU lodged a dispute with the Industrial Relations Commission which was heard before Justice Staff. During these proceedings the Ambulance Service agreed to withdraw the advertisements and readvertise the station officer positions using the old criteria. A meeting will be held next week to discuss further. Members will be advised of the outcome.
