I am nominating the room to breathe foundation founded in 2002 it began offering support services to families whose children have undergone a lifesaving procedure known as the vertical expandable prosthetic titanium rib or vector for short. Their mission is to provide support and offset travel costs associated with the surgeries. This procedure has helped save over 500 children and many of these families are located within the northeastern part of the United States. In 2011 the CEO and Board of Directors finalize the paperwork to become a nonprofit organization because they themselves are in the vector community the the 501(c)(3) to go back burner for a few years to their special-needs child. What many people dont realize is that theres not always a guaranteed spot in there in the in a special housing such as the Ronald McDonald house and these parents and their children have to spend nights in hotels. Because most childrens hospitals are located in big cities such as Philadelphia hotel latencies can cost over $200 a night and weve seen these trips on average cost $1500 per family per trip. This organization is dedicated to helping these families find funding to offset these costs as well is raise VEPTR awareness. Their full and part-time staff is 100% volunteer, their directors donate the cost of equipment and basic overhead at this moment so that 100% of donations go right back out to the families in need.
