I AM OFFENDED TO MY CORE - I DO NOT TOLERATE GOSSIP - You will find a picture of Lucy on my cover page. This is an open message about Lucy to every person, who knows Michael, myself, and our family, which consists of Michael, myself, Harley, Lucy, Scrappy, Sunny, Zippie, Mama Kitty, and our various aquatic animals. We live in our wonderful place, which we call Ovenshire. Now there are all sorts of people we have relationships with outside of our sweet little hamlet in business, in professional organizations, and in friendship. Michael and I never mind the business of others - much like the American Indian proverb we believe : Never criticize a man until you’ve walked a mile in his moccasins. And so we roll along with the expectation of the same. Now on to Lucy - several years ago Lucy developed an extremely severe case of separation anxiety. It was so bad that we had to enlist the help of our vet. She was so upset about being home alone (with Harley) that she chewed her way out of our by kitchen by chewing the kitchen door in half. Once this happened she moved on to the kitchen wall adjoining the kitchen door. She tore out all of the dry wall and insulation. The next section would have been the pipes and hoses, which connected to our washer. Months later while we were out working - she ate our window sill in our master bedroom. Then she tore out the wall beneath the window sill - the next section had an electrical outlet in it. The damage she did was costly and extensive. Again, we enlisted the help of our vet. Lucy takes medication for her separation anxiety and according to the advice of our vet - crating her is not an option, because she would harm herself trying to get out. So Michael and I as her pet parents have made special arrangements to care for Lucy, who is the sweetest and dearest dog you could ever hope to have in your family. We have actually had people from organizations, which we VOLUNTEER for, tell us that we should put her in a cage or worse tell us TO PUT HER DOWN. Another individual suggested we put her in the yard with an electrified fence so she cant get out and gets shocked when she does. I have tolerated this ignorance for a very long time in silence, and I have not responded to these extremely disrespectful comments, but today - an individual felt the need to GOSSIP ABOUT ME while I was not at a function at an organization, which Michael belongs to - NOT ME. She sat and discussed our personal business at the table with everyone at the event - and went on and on about Lucy and how we should do this and that and just put her in a cage. The last straw arrived today. I am sorry, but it is none of anyones business what our choices are regarding our family (and our dogs are part of our family). Michael and I always honor our obligations including our obligations as VOLUNTEERS!!!!! It saddens me to know that so many out there think that an animals life is so easily disposable - actually it sickens me. It bothers me that a group that should be above such behavior lowers themselves to such a level of ignorance. So here is my message to those, who felt or feel the need to allow my name or Lucys to roll off their tongues - if you have something to say - please refer it to me directly - do not discuss my business behind my back. If you think that we should put our sweet Lucy down - keep your opinion to yourself - and shame on you for your blatant disregard for one of Gods creatures and life. I feel sorry for you and I will pray for you, because you are missing out on the true meaning of life.
