I AM SCARED and THEY DON’T UNDERSTAND My name is MAX. I am 7-yrs-old boy and I am neutered. I have heard that I am very handsome; I look like a cuddly plush toys. I used to have some toys I remember in the past but those are in the past. Now, I am in a place called shelter where they keep hundreds of dogs: so many different smells. I can smells fear, I can smell insecurity, I can smell sickness, and even death. Sometimes, I can smell and hear happy sounds, too, but as you can imagine focusing on “positive” is rather hard at this place. When they take me out for the first time, I thought we were going home; so I was very calm and relaxed…I was happy, to be honest! I showed my appreciation by socializing with the human who was handling me. I was a good boy, they said. But then, they took me a room and again I smelled fear, which increased my fear. I became tense and terrified. You will never know, NEVER EVER understand until you experience what I have been experiencing at that shelter –the unknown!!! Everything started well that day because I thought I was going home, but ended me being New Hope Rescue only dog. That means I can be fostered/adopted only through an approved rescue. To do that, you need to contact rescues NOW! TONIGHT is my last night and they will kill me tomorrow! I know I am not “Brad Pitt” of the dogs but I am special. I know I am; and I have been told that I have soulful eyes, whatever it means. All I know is I am a good boy, I want to be a good boy and I want to LIVE! Would you please HELP ME?
