I DO think Rico is going to pull through this set back. The more I am hearing from people and the more I am reading, it doesnt sound as bad as I originally thought. I am doing some research and also reading through the book Avian Medicine; Principles and Application and I am confused because I am reading the cause for this in most instances is trauma. There was no physical trauma during the accident. I was there for it all. In this book it also states subcutaneous emphysema is noted in birds with fractures of the humerus. Dr. O pointed out to me today they are concerned with something they see in his left humerus. I didnt pick up on any of that at the vets office but when I came home and read it, my mind is wandering if there was some type of trauma caused to the humerus. I told Dr. O I felt this build up, that I now know is sub q emphysema the day after I brought him home. I felt it on both sides of his keel. I just thought it was the sub q fluids being injected. I am not familiar with either so I wouldnt know. So this sub q emphysema has been going on for a while, I just thought it was something else. My questions is how do I deal with this build up now? How do I get rid of it? Im reading it absorbs back into the body. I was told to squeeze it and it will displace. Im doing it a little bit but its all over his body now.
