I Honestly believe that racism has become out of control in how - TopicsExpress

I Honestly believe that racism has become out of control in how easily something that i believe is not racist is classed offensive and racist. How is this statement directly insulting a particular race? Or singling out any race from any other? Its saying if you dont love Australia then leave, which is something many Australians do each year, gaining citizenship elsewhere. Asking that people of all backgrounds and skin color, people of your own country whether by choice or birth love it, is not an unreasonable request. Especially when everybody in Australia.. including Australian born are free to leave if they please whenever they please. Australia is a free country and our laws give every person the freedom to make there own choices. Countries cant blossom if the people of that country neither love it, or believe in it, the news reminds us of this daily. So why is it wrong or racist to strive towards a country of unity and strength? Is it the eyes who only read this statement as wrong and racist showing that its read through racist eyes?.. has that allegation got more substance behind it than the statement on this shirt? I am of Indian/Aussie background and dont have problem with any people choosing to come to Oz to make a life for them self and their familys, as i am here today because my father did so. I love how much Australia has been influences and formed from different cultures of the world, and how much multiculturalism has added to so many things we use, do and eat every day. Is it Ok for me to feel love for this country? Or should i feel offended when i read that statement being of Indian background and of dark skin? cos my thoughts when i read it were YES i Love this country, and hope sure as hell every-person choosing to be here does, whether of different background or not! Am i racist in thinking this when i read that statement on the shirt? Should i now start seeing this as racism because people where outraged and said it is? Is a statement reminding people we are a free country and everyone has the right to leave, and know one will forcefully be held here against there will providing they havent broken the law of this country.. is that offensive? If so to who is it offensive to?
