I LOVE BEING A LOVING SUPPORTIVE FATHER: LETTER FROM IMANIS 5TH GRADE TEACHER September 30, 2012 To Whom It May Concern, I had the pleasure of teaching Imani Hughes during her fifth grade year at John Marshall Elementary School, located in Detroit, Michigan. She was a strong, well balanced, and happy child, which I attributed mainly to her close relationship with her father, Demarcus Hughes. It was my understanding Mr. Hughes was the main care-giver to the children during this time. Demarcus Hughes was highly involved in all aspects of his daughter’s life, and Inaya as well. At that time, Inaya was not his legal daughter, but in his eyes she was, and was treated as such. He made sure they arrived safely at school on a daily basis, had lunch when the school lunch did not meet their personal needs, attended parent-teacher conferences, as well as contributed to the overall community influence of the school. During her 5th grade year Imani dealt with a serious health issue. Mr. Hughes stayed in constant contact with me regarding this situation. Whenever needed he was at the school to take care of Imani. His dedication to Imani during this time allowed her to attend school with confidence. Sincerely, Ann Ross
