I. Love. Coffee. My Prozac. If you tasted this coffee, you would SWEAR there was sugar in it. Coffee Connoisseur, Ulrich Link Hi, Vickis husband here! Just enjoyed another great Sunday morning breakfast together. We make it a ritual on Sundays, just really look forward to it. A day of sacred rest. Yet also celebration: a time to be intentional with fine foods and coffees, to linger at the table, savor, and enjoy fruitful conversation... to appreciate the bounty of flavors as well as the nourishment and health that Real Food brings. After all, this whole Sugar Kickers thing Vicki started is really not just about “taking away the sugar”, right? Theres a whole new world of things we can ADD to our lives to enrich ourselves. Allow me to humbly present one example. Truly gourmet coffee. Trust me, you really havent lived til youve tasted something like whats in Vickis cup on Sunday mornings. So heres a couple shots of our gourmet coffee as I make it on weekends. Were so fortunate- we can enjoy coffees with our super-healthy breakfasts that are as good as the coffees billionaires drink- and they only cost us a bit more than typical average coffee beans do. I think its worth it. Life is short. And sacred. Wanna peek at what I do? First, quality whole beans from tiny coffee farms focused on intense quality. Not hard to get actually. Todays, a Yirgacheffe. Thats in Ethiopia, where the coffee tree is native. Photo 1 I get the beans a day or two after theyre roasted. From seriously good roasters who know what theyre doing. Again, not hard to do. Ill show yall the whole deal sometime. Photo 2 So then, I grind the coffee beans while the water is heating. And not till then! I use clean spring water. Tastes way better. Beans are ground super-fine in a true burr grinder. (Regular plain old grinders cant create the proper grind-particle size for truly good flavor.) - Photo 3 Brewing water temperature I chose for this particular medium roast coffee- a balmy 198 degrees. Photo 4 Paper filter in a basket, fresh ground beans in. Pour water in, and the stuff goes into a 60 oz. coffee server below. Gravity is an amazing thing. Photo 5 And into Vickis cup it goes. Maybe someday well have the internet technology for you our readers to be able to smell whats in the photo? Cuz I sure cant describe how good it is! Words fail. Well, I will say this, since were Sugar Kickers. If you tasted this coffee, you would SWEAR there was sugar in it. Theres none. And no sweetener of any kind. The fruity intense sweetness it has- is from the coffee bean itself. And THAT my friends, is how life is supposed to work.
