I already submitted this as a suggestion in the feedback - TopicsExpress

I already submitted this as a suggestion in the feedback questionnaire but I want to see what you guys think as well. I was thinking about having a means for people to communicate throughout the convention on our phones and computers with an open source cross-platform IM protocol (Jabber.) We could even have chat rooms for the different panels so If you wanted to continue the discussion after the panel you would have a quick means to do so rather than a forum that is a bit slower. I had originally thought about using google hangouts but you would have to use your google account and that might be too personal for some people. With this you could use an android or an iphone to connect to the chat servers and have a quick way to connect with people and plan out panel attendances with similar minded people as we have a fairly diverse group of people that attend penguicon. This also goes to what I think to be the root of penguicon and that is that its a solution based on open source software. Anyone willing to collaborate on the idea with me are welcome to send me a message so we can grill out more details and iron out some hurdles.
