I always wondered where my ancestors came from. My father never - TopicsExpress

I always wondered where my ancestors came from. My father never mentioned much, except for Herzegovina. Another mention was from the area of Czechoslovakia or possibly White Russia. Then I started studying about the formation of Croatia and learned that the Croatians possibly came from the Mongol Hordes of the late 600s. Another area was the possibility of Iran. While in the Washington DC area, in speaking with two ladies, one from Pakistan and the other from Iraq, they thought I had features of an Iranian. All of this really raised my curiosity. I decided to take a DNA test through Family Tree DNA. What a pleasant surprise. My Jerkovic ancestors came from Saudi Arabia, possibly as far back as 25,000 years ago. The migration route took our ancestors through Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Greece, Albania, and to present day Croatia. Some continued on across the Adriatic to Italy, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Denmark, and Sweden. I had contact with a distant cousin from Russia. Have not heard from him lately. Another contact was from a possible cousin in Sweden. She and I are working on that issue now and hope to come to a concrete solution soon. The best contact though, is with a cousin in Italy. This contact really proves that our ancestors did cross the Adriatic, with some settling in Italy, while others continued on to Sweden. With all this new information, it is delaying, but adding material for my book on our family tree. Just thought I would share this information. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.
