I am a few days from my trip to Spain to hike the Camino ... 800 km ... from the French side of the Pyrenees to Santiago, near the Atlantic Ocean. It will take 6 weeks of walking an average of 25km per day, every day, if I am able. There could be a few bus rides sprinkled throughout if the hiking proves too much but I am starting with the intention of walking it. Hey, almost 200,000 people do it, or some part of it, every year so, and live to tell about it, so I should be good, no? In spite of lots of planning, I am feeling a wee bit anxious and will be glad to finally get on the path and see what it holds in store for me. Having this project on my radar has certainly taken my mind off retiring ... which was part of the plan. I do love teaching and it was a tough decision to finally give it up. I will be posting pictures and comments on Facebook, as I can. Not sure how often, as we are staying in albergues along The Way. There may be a few hotels sprinkled throughout if the snoring in the hostels proves too much and we need a good sleep or warm shower!
