I am back ~~ online!! What an adventure!! There is so much to tell but suffice it to say that we all endured and survived and are now thoroughly enjoying our new life here. Poor Homer probably had the worst of it. He pooped and puked AND peed in his kennel sometime during the first flight. At Mexico City people would come up to his kennel what a pretty puppy, oh so cute, and then they would quickly back away... ew... stinky pup~!!! Jezebel got all of the attention after that. Both dogs were excellent travelers - no barking or whining or growling!! They were perfect. Immigration and customs went very easily. Nothing was questioned. The dogs paperwork was perfect!! And we had plenty of time and help to make it through the airport and to the connecting flight - even though they had told us to report to Gate 75 but we really needed to be at Gate 70. I am so glad that Lynn speaks enough Spanish to find that bit out and we were able to hobble a good long ways to the correct gate in plenty of time. The second flight was a bit rough on take off but all of us arrived in the absolutely wonderful Huatulco airport (open air building with a grass roof), Homer and Jezebel hopped out of their kennels, drank the cool water Lynn and Dennis provided. We wiped them down with a cooling towel and took them home. Yesterday evening they began to come back to normal. Homer is still a bit off his food but thats not really unusual for the old boy and they are happily soaking up all sorts of attention. There are so many dogs and dog lovers here!! It balances out for the stray packs of dogs that wander all over. One of the most interesting things that has happened here is that it feels like home.... literally! I got out of the car on my street and knew it from all the pictures Ive been looking at these last many months. When I came into the courtyard and the house I felt like I actually stepped into the photos!! Very strange feeling.. I looked for a wardrobe but apparently my house IS the wardrobe. The rainy season just started and although Jezebels fear forecasts the rain storms she does not go all freaky on me. We havent seen any thunder or lightening yet and now that I have the internet I can use the very succesful formula of 2 benadryl and 1 Rex Harrison/Dr. Doolittle movie!! Its worked in Madison for 5 storms so I am sure it will work here. Most of what Ive been doing the last couple of days is meeting people, learning how to shop Mexican style and beginning to learn the language. The humidity and heat are similar to our warmer summer days. I especially like the fact that this will be much the same ALL YEAR!! No snow, ice or subzero temps. Okay... this is long but my guest room is already set up. I have been shopping for the bits and pieces that make a place a home and there is work to be done here that I am looking forward to (painting and some minor remodeling). Handy carpenters are all over and very reasonable so Ill hire one or two to do what I cannot. Yesterday was food shopping. Today is shopping for hangers, mop, bucket, clothesline, etc - things you cannot eat. I may go into town to try the very best chocolate cake in the world... thats what they tell me. The local coffee beans are to die for!! Ill sign off for now but Ill be getting active on my website soon and Ill be posting more details there. Ill let you all know when that is going. Thanks again to every single one of you that has helped make this adventure possible!! I am so very fortunate to have the best friends and family in the entire world!! Love, Kris, Homer and Jezebel!
