I am dumbfounded right now. Ive been on a binge, watching this guy named James Strange from Memphis Tennessee, making Korean food classics... video after video, I am stunned. He knows his stuff, has a profound knowledge of different Korean ingredients and ingredient combinations, and even owns Korean style chopsticks and spoons! A middle aged American from Memphis Tennessee. I have so many questions for you. 1. How did you gain such a profound knowledge of Korean food? Even how we eat tamuji and onion with vinegar in black bean paste while eating jjajangmyun. That tells me you spent a very long time in Korea. Which leads me to other questions: 2. Were you in the military, stationed in Korea? Why did you spend such a long time in Korea? 3. Youre cooking some stone age classics... stuff that my mom made... stuff that was in fashion in the 80s. Some really difficult foods like acorn jelly. How did you pick up these recipes? Do you read Korean? 4. Given that this type of interest is incredibly rare from a non-Korean person, how did you become interested in cooking Korean food? The types of Korean food you cook are not popular with average Americans. So many questions... food is the great ambassador, the representative of culture. For me, this is like watching a Kurd, IN Northern Iraq, make meatloaf with the ketchup glaze, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole with cream of mushroom soup from the can and Frenchs fried onions on top, stuffing, collard greens, candied yams with marshmallows and raisins, corn bread, canned cranberry jelly, and the canned ham with pineapple slices baked on top. You get it???!! In other words... I feel like Im watching an episode of the twilight zone... So many questions!!!
