I am embarrased to say that I have publically said nothing about - TopicsExpress

I am embarrased to say that I have publically said nothing about St. Louis and all the others before now. I am not always comfy making waves. I have been haunted, but silent. My son asked me about this, and I explained as best I could. After hearing my views, he asked me a question that shamed me: Mom, what are you going to do about it? Answer: I have NO idea. But this is someones child. And if you can look at your Caucasian child and know that there is slim chance that he would be gunned down over a shoplifting allegation, then you know something isnt right. A culture that prosthelitizes violence, lets gunmakers buy immunity, and looks away when cops use these values as excuses to gun down AMERICANS is not okay. I will hold my son with extra relish tonight. Still, I will never know a fear of what could happen to him at the hands of law as a mother to a black son would. His humanity will never be denied over his skin. And the fact that any Americans still could means we have a long, long way to go. This must change. How? Thank you at Velvet Kente and Melissa Taulbee Brighton for posts that gave me food for thought.
