To Pacific Grove Residents: I like to keep you informed as best we can on issues that may affect our wildlife and the environment we love so much. PG is working on its own local coastal plan, a process the state Coastal Commission has encouraged for years. The city council and planning commission are having a joint meeting Wednesday night to discuss details. The city has posted a survey on its Web site seeking public opinion of coastal values. It hasnt been publicized much, but I suspect the city administration may give the limited results more importance than is warranted. That makes this survey very important. So I would urge everyone who has a few minutes to fill this survey out online. It seems to me to be more weighted for more development and traffic accommodation than conservation and preservation. Again I would urge all PG residents who can to fill it out. Carefully consider your answers and remember that the lower number means BEST and the higher number means WORST. Surveys are often worded in a way to get a certain result and if you want to be sure that our beautiful coastline remains just that without further buildings, parking lots, and clutter then watch how you answer because some of the questions want you to choose development.
