I am frequently reminded of what this country is doing to support me, and millions of other Veterans of the armed forces. We came to service from all walks of life, served our time, and returned to the Civilian world. Some of us came back unscathed by our service, and some of us didnt. Among those of us who are not making it in the real world, perhaps the most troubled are the hordes of men and women who served the country and seem to be unable now to obtain some of the basic necessities of life. My hometown has earned bragging rights for a successful program that has found, or is finding permanent homes for virtually all the homeless veterans in our city. I am proud, and gratified for the program, even though I have not been in need of it. While you think about thanking a vet for serving the country, add a note of gratitude for the people of the country who deserves thanks for serving the Veteran Population.
