I am going through baseball withdrawal, but the World Series is coming up though. GO CARDINALS!! The back yard is quiet, waning into winter, though there still are beets and carrots to dig. The golden leaves are dropping from the apple trees, into the hosta beds beneath. And the hosta leaves are golden too, as lovely at this stage as they are all summer. The heated birdbath is ready and since it sits on the deck, the squirrels enjoy it down at their level. Drove down to the Wild Bird store in Boulder yesterday to find refills of the cylindrical suet cakes for a cage feeder and they did not have any so will have to get those in Iowa, I guess. The birds are enjoying their food and there still is an occasional hummingbird straggler. Flowers still blooming and I took some more cuttings of the scented geraniums that I found at Lucilles in Iowa. Still have begonias to dig but they are beautiful yet.
